With the saturation of the Ethereum network, the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is attracting more and more investors. How to configure your MetaMask wallet to access this new blockchain? Guide.
If you have never used MetaMask, it is an extension that allows you to use a cryptocurrency wallet on your browser. Essentially, MetaMask supports the Ethereum blockchain, but lately it is also possible to use the Binance Smart Chain on MetaMask. However, you need to switch a parameter on the extension, which is what we will see in this part.
⚠️ The Binance Smart Chain is a blockchain in its own right, quite distinct from Ethereum or Bitcoin. If you want to send funds to the Binance Smart Chain, be sure to select the Binance Smart Chain network and the BEP-20 standard during the transfer process. If you want to send crypto currency to BSC, please start by purchasing BNB, you must have some to pay for the gas.
Configure MetaMask to accept Binance Smart Chain.
After installing MetaMask from the official page, you will find a small fox head in the list of browser extensions. If you can't find it, restart your browser.
Click on the fox and configure your password if you haven't already. Once your wallet is properly configured, you have a fully functional wallet for the Ethereum network. You will need to manually add the Binance Smart Chain.
To do this, nothing could be simpler, first click on the network selector "Ethereum main network" marked on the image with the number 1 and then click on the "Custom RPC" marked with the number 2.
On the next window, you will need to manually set up the accesses to the BSC. Here is the information to fill in:
Network Name : Smart Chain
New RPC URL : https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
ChainID : 56
Symbol : BNB
Block Explorer URL : https://bscscan.com
Once the information is added, you can click on "Save" to validate.
The operation is now complete!
You can interact with the Binance Smart Chain as you see fit. However, check the network selector, it only displays funds on the selected network, so don't panic if you can't find your funds, make sure you have selected the right network.
